Supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning

The Macmillan Coffee Morning is the UK’s biggest fundraising event to support people living with cancer. Each year, people across the country come together over coffee, tea, and cake to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The Coffee Morning is usually held on the last Friday of September each year. This year's Coffee Morning Day is Friday 26 September 2025. However, you can host any time of the year, whenever suits you best.

In a care home setting, a Coffee Morning is a wonderful opportunity not only to raise vital funds for the charity but also to bring residents, staff, families, and the wider community together. It can create a warm, social atmosphere that helps residents feel included and connected, while also supporting a cause that touches so many lives.

Staff can involve residents in different ways, such as:

  1. Baking or decorating cakes (with support if needed).
  2. Helping to set up and decorate the space for the event.
  3. Sharing stories and memories over a cup of tea or coffee.
  4. Inviting families and local community members to join in.

Donations from thousands of Coffee Mornings, big and small, help raise vital funds to support the almost 3.5 million people in the UK living with cancer, from the moment they are diagnosed, throughout treatment and beyond. Every pound raised goes towards funding Macmillan’s vital services — from specialist nurses and emotional support to financial guidance — helping people living with cancer and their families.

By organising a Coffee Morning, care homes can make a positive difference while giving residents a joyful and meaningful experience.
